I’m beginning to wonder why the hell I ever bought new dishes.
I use to have these heavy duty, square, colored plates, bowls, mugs.. the works. My grandma bought them for me, in my first house I bought when I was about 24. I had 2 sets of red, 2 sets of blue, 2 sets of green, yellow, and purple dishes. These lasted for the 10 years I lived there and made it to our new house about 3 years ago. Some still survive at our house now. I did decide to sell the large and small square plates to “downsize.” These dishes took up a lot of space because they were thick and heavy. Plus I wanted a change.
Enter the new skinny, white dishes that are known to last “forever.” Will, not in this house! Since the end of July 2019 someone has managed to drop and break at least 5 pieces of the 38 we once started with, leaving us with 2 less sets to rotate through. 🙄
I should’ve taken a picture of the mass mess a single dish can make because anything I searched didn’t even come close to the amount of tiny pieces scattered around half our kitchen floor. Hence, no featured image. The images I found just made me jealous of how others dishes broke into a few manageable “shattered” pieces. I yearn to have a dish break that way.🙌
Needless to say I’m in the market for the unicorn. Dishes that aren’t plastic but also won’t shatter into a million tiny pieces the second they hit the tile. Surely, I can’t be the only one needing such a thing?!
